l have a 540 sq. foot area behind my business.Right now it is paved with

asphalt that is very uneven. So - the contractor l spoke to is going to use

The supplies are

Does this sound fair to those of you who
know of such projects?A little more than l thought it'd be!

It sounds a little high. Before I make the decision, I would

get a few more estimates. Did you ask for references on this contractor?

If he gives you references, call the people and ask how the job came out.

Make sure you do that. Never take the lowest estimate, always go for the

middle priced estimate.

It is difficult to tell if it is a good deal without actually

looking at the location. But I would suggest that you call & get at least

two other contractors to come out & look at the property to give you a bid.

And check with ur state contractors licensing board to make sure that all

if required, etc. You can also check with Better Business Bureau to see if
there are any unresolved complaints against the contractor.

When you get bids from the other contractors, make sure the bids are based
on the same job specifications. For example, is the contractor going to
remove the asphalt paving & grade the ground surface to level it, or is he
going to lay down a layer of something (like sand) to even out the surface
& install paver blocks over that.

You don't need a bid that shows every little component used in the job,
but you do want to see a description of the work that is going to
accomplish the job, the square footages involved, along with a description
of the major materials used.

Remember that price should not be the only consideration. Quality
matters, if you want something to last.

Good luck on ur project.
